at Kwangchauwan and of the possible extension of the principle of

taxing salt in this Colony if a beginning is now made in this

direction, I would urge that the Government at Lisbon be moved

through the Portuguese Minister in London, to limit the next let- -ting of the Solt Ionopoly at Mihono to annual or at any rate bi-

-ennial periods. Such a system would in my case probably benefit

the Macao Treasury.
